2 months sober
Im john im a alcoholic I've been going to AA meetings 4 times a week.I like going to the bar to watch sports etc and have a non alcoholic beer that is a no no in AA.I find the AA rules a bit Anti social.a bit confused:-?
Take what you can't get from it and leave the rest behind. I think for someone who cannot exercise control, they shouldn't go. If you feel comfortable with yourself...I don't see the issue.

Welcome, Jon!
There are no "rules" at the AA meetings I attend, although I can see why someone might be concerned about your spending time in a bar. If you feel uncomfortable at this meeting, are there any others in your area?

Way to go on 2 months!
They are basically just trying to keep you away from "slippery places".
It may seem anti social but it's more a self protective measure.
I wonder could you round up some fellow AA'ers to watch the game and sip on something else? It seems likely there would be people there missing the same thing and be into a sober sports viewing event. Maybe someone can host.

2 months is awesome!
I've been in and out of AA for years (in again now). I would look at many of the 'rules' as suggestions. Suggestions that come from people with years of experience...both their own and watching the plight of other alchies. If you feel you are strong enough to handle bars then its up to you isn't it? 2 months is early early days however. Just really ask yourself, is it worth the risk? Its an inside job. I just know that I have to watch out for denial and make sure my addiction isn't really making the decisions for me.
