i'm back

i've been trying to quit but it's hard i honestly didn't think it would be this hard
every time i try and taper it goes well but after a few days i go right back to where i started
i feel ashamed of myself and i debated whether or not to post again
i truly appreciate all the responses i got in the past

today is pretty horrible if anyone cares to read
i had a upper endoscopy and was instructed not to drink anything for atleast 24 hrs guess my anxiety about going through WD is getting the best of me right now

but its what the doc said about my results although not good it wasnt life threatening but he did sincerely look me in the eyes and tell me i needed to stop drinking as the alcohol could be the cause of my issues

it got me thinking again that i need to quit for good
i do have the intention to quit as i stated before its no longer fun

i basically drink between 2 to 3 beers a night out of fear of having a seizure and exp WD

oh the thing is i have no shakes, my bp is under 100, bpm is 60 to 70
all opposite of what typical WD symptoms and the anxiety i had anxiety issues before before and after i started drinking weird...

Could your Dr not help with something to smooth those first few days?
It's certainly helpful to have them on side for future support too and their always
pleased to help.
At some time you've got to go for day one, your pattern of drinking will be so recognisable to most of us.
Good luck.
John.

Welcome back Deos

sounds like you need to try something new? Have you considered rehab? AA or some other group?

Good for you! Two days is great. Keep that momentum going and you won't ever have another hang over or day 1.

It can be really hard at first but hang in there deos68. Everyone says it gets better and they are right. You know what it's like to continue drinking...why not give it your all to find out what it is like to stop? It sounds like you want to find out? Also, your doctor seems supportive, have you considered reaching out for help with the possible withdrawal issues/fears?

i'm gonna push through bu the thing is i had anxiety issues before and after drinking so in all reality
i don't know if i am exp WD or its just anxiety
since anxiety can mimic a bunch of different things physically kinda sucks

i do have klonopin as a aid just in case of but ive yet to see any physical signs of WD
no shaky hands, no body shakes not much of anything other than anxiety
