Wink *Ring Ring* Sober Weekender May 6

Hello! Keeping it simple this week. Small as I like to say.

Small means that I will try not to take in more than I can expel. Thoughts too big they overwhelm me. Just take it slow and deliberate. One sober foot in front of the other. Smile along the way until Monday arrives and I have clear eyes and a bright mind to show for it.

*Ring Ring*

What does it mean? In the words of Mecanix...

“The first bell is the bell of mindfulness, calling to me and you.

It says stop what am i doing right now, take some breaths, feel my body, am I holding it tight and tense? Relax… calm down… life is a journey and not a destination, make the journey as glorious as possible.

The second bell is the freedom bell and I'm ringing it for you to let you know freedom from drink and drugs is available to you, come and hear us calling out to you.”

Welcome to your sober weekend! So many of us weekenders!! Woo Hoo!

Thanks for that Ken, looking into mindfulness at present.

At 25 weeks tomorrow I can safely say this is a journey that I didn't believe was possible or I'd ever be on but one I'm so glad I decided to make - the sun is shining here and a glorious weekend is forecast - in the UK !! plan is joining the wife doing the gardening, something that I never enjoyed and would point blank refuse to get involved with but you know what I really am looking forward to it, been doing it for a few weeks now and taking a great deal of satisfaction from what we are achieving with it and the hard work we're putting in but also enjoying doing stuff together and having a laugh too.

Too right this really is what freedom & happiness feels like and I love it.

Have a great sober weekend everyone.

Hello all! I'll pop in here at the start. I am notoriously bad for keeping up with the fast moving/long threads, but I do like to come check in here and there. Have a great weekend everyone. Here in Italy Mother's Day is the 8th of May, I cannot wait to soberly celebrate being a mother on Sunday. What a gift my children are and they so deserve a sober mother, I am glad I can finally provide that to them.

What do you think about all those 'running man' police men and women? Love a craze!

Good Morning, 'Enders-

Thanks, Weasel! Here I am, up well before anyone in the house...and well, it's pretty fabulous I must say. If I can make a habit of this, my productivity would no doubt increase.

I'm checking in for a sober weekend. Glad to see you, Andy- congrats on 25 weeks!

Mera, Mother's Day without drinking will be great this year! I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary on May 14th. So, looking back on the calendar, Mother's Day last year was on the 10th. I can't recall the specifics (shocker ) but guaranteed I drank the night before, and certainly with dinner...and the rest of the day on that Sunday.

Seeing my boys through sober eyes is a gift in itself. Although I like to think I minimized their exposure to my drinking, the reality is they noticed, but now they notice my sober eyes too. It keeps getting better!

Congratulations on your sober time, yes what a gift it is. I also like to think I minimised my son's exposure to my alcoholism but I can't ignore the fact that they noticed and I was doing damage even when it thought I wasn't. Anyways, onwards and upwards for both of us!

So when it is Mother's day in the world? I guess everywhere has Mother's Day this weekend and then the US and the UK have different dates?

No, wait, you are in the US Darhma. But I know in the past Mother's day here and Mother's day in the US haven't lined up.....

Ours is this Sunday, the 8th. My SIL is making reservations for us for brunch...the last few years I have hosted. So, I am glad to go out and order my favorite, sparkling Pelligrino with fresh lime.

And yes, onward for us!!!!

Hello Hello ,
welcome one and all to your sober weekend .
Just got to get through till monday , it doesn't have to be fun , you can be miserable if you like , just got to get through .

If you don't feel like typing much then you can just say i'm in . sometimes in sobriety i had nothing to say but i still wanted to connect in some way .

Have had the estate agents e-mail me , it feels good to be moving on the house sale . I always felt it was an anchor for me in a turbulent world , maybe for the old drama drunk me ..
Maybe it now holds me back from more freedom and a better life here and now .. time to let go and free myself up some more

We shall see , one step at a time .

Big weekend. Middle son graduating from college, so we are road tripping up to see him in his cap and gown.
