New start?

I have to stop drinking starting today. I have tried before , but this time it has to happen for good. I have never looked for help before, but I feel so isolated, sorry to be so dull

icecream pete,

Welcome and congratulations on your decision! You CAN make it happen for good but
the cool thing is you only have to make it happen for today and if you do that for
one day, you just proved that you CAN do it for another day. Days become weeks,
weeks become months... but you only have to do it one day at a time.

I have had so many people help me in the past two years that I can no longer
name them all. I could not have done it by myself and I used to think that it
would be better somehow if I could have. Funny thing is that my life is so much
richer today because I let people into my life to help me that even if I could
have done it all by myself, it would have been worse not better. My recovery
has been full of little and big examples of me just not getting it at first. I wish
you all the best in your first steps towards finding yourself and finding happiness
that doesn't come in a bottle and doesn't leave when the bottle is empty. Jah Bless.

"In this life, in this life, in this life
In this oh sweet life
We're coming in from the cold
We're coming in, coming in, coming in
Coming in from the cold

It's you, it's you, it's you I'm talking to
Well you, it's you, it's you
It's you I'm talking to now
Why do you look so sad and foresaken
When one door is closed
Don't you know another is open"

Yes, yes, yes, you can. Please don't try to do it alone. I am on day 6 and the best thing I can do for myself is reach out. Call someone, get to a meeting. I am pulling for you, for me, for all of us.

Hi Pete. If you've not done it before, maybe try visualising better the New Life you're going to have sober. List all the advantages, focussing on the most positive aspects. That will help you see where you're headed.

When you failed before you will have slipped back down snakes you KNOW you left there deliberately! (just in case...)

This time, no snakes, no mistakes.

If I can help in any way... just shout.

Deg.
