Day 11
Thank you to everyone who posted on the thread I posted yesterday titled "Day 10.. struggling".
Dee asked me if I was doing anything other than posting on SR to stay sober.
I have been going to A.A meetings for inspiration / motivation .. I like hearing the positive stories. However, the steps are not for me. So A.A for me has major limitations.
I have the book "Rational Recovery" by Jack Trimpey. I have not given it a chance to help me. I tend to read before bed and I get through a couple of pages and it makes me tired lol.
I should sit and read it during the day and get serious about it.

Good job on day 11 just curious, what do you not like about the steps? I used to be solidly against aa until I started going and working the steps. Just curious. Not looking for a debate
One thing the steps helped me to realize was that I wasn't being honest with myself which was negatively affecting my recovery.

Congratulations on day 11 !! Yea I actually did the same as you to get to a year; read cause AA was never for me. Good luck on your journey. I have urges very rarely & can easily dismiss them, wish ya luck ,..

Hi Delizadee,
It is the God / Higher power aspect.
I hear a lot from people in the meetings "If you are just sitting here in meetings and not working the program, you are not likely to succeed."
So for me the meetings provide a positive atmosphere and help me stay positive for that day ... but that is about it.

Congrats Voshen.
The way around the HP for me was to accept I was not the greatest power in the universe.
I'd proved that over and over again.
I reasoned that meant there was a higher power than me. I didn't have to worship it - I just needed to ask for help and support.
I found that help and support in other people who shared my problem
