Gonna try and quit again for the like 10th time

From right now I'm going to try and quit drinking again. I'm just sick of drinking every night and sick of drinking to the point i throw up before i even get pissed. The triggers why I usually fail at quitting is boredom, stress, anxiety but mostly boredom.

I really want to quit because I haven't attended my karata class in like 2 months because from a bad experience when i go there after a night drinking i feel sick and I dehydrate really quick to the point I feel like im going to choke and die.

I feel exactly the same as you oz. With me it's being bored also but when I stop and take a look around there's so much I could be doing that I have neglected. My whole house needs painted the garden needs urgent attention and I have stuff crammed in cupboards to the point they're overflowing. Like you I'm sick of drinking every night it's just not fun anymore but I'm already stressing about tonight! But I'm going try again!

What is your definition of boredom? Define it and you can come up with a plan to change this boredom......

Boredom can be cured with a book. Alcoholism takes a little more work. If you are trying for the 10th time, it's time to recognize your approach to your drinking is wrong.

Boredom, stress, and anxiety are the natural state of the freshly sober. They will abate over time, but they are to be expected the first few months. Google "anhedonia and alcohol" if you want to learn more about that phenomenon.

Plan for it. What will you do tonight when you feel bored, stressed, and anxious? What will you do tomorrow night when it returns? It will. Instead of hoping it doesn't, make a plan for what you will do when it does. Go on offense.

Your karate class sounds like a great idea. Physical exercise can work wonders.

Best of Luck on Your Journey.

Just quitting drinking without making other changes never worked for me. I needed help.

Took me a few times of trying to quit before realizing that being sober means not only ending substances flowing into my bloodstream but also changing my way of thinking. Many of us spent many years brainwashing ourselves into negative ways of thinking.

yep boredom is just something in your mind.. like everyone here has said.. I need to get back to my art with the college kids for at least one class.. laughter chatting and the smell of wet clay and paint... fixes that for me everytime... you can do it kiddo just find out why you want to do it..

here's another suggestion...

DON'T TRY TO QUIT DRINKING AGAIN.

--------------------------------------->>>>>

No, seriously....

THAT HASN'T WORKED FOR YOU... HAS IT?? FOR LIKE AT LEAST 9 TIMES??!?!

------------------------------------------>>>>>

Continually trying the same thing that isn't working, over and over again and getting the same result.... yet still trying the same thing....

ISN'T THAT THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY???

----------------------------------------->>>>>>>

This time.....

DO NOT TRY TO QUIT DRINKING AGAIN!!!!!!

--------------------------------------->>>>>>>>>>

That's right. Stop it.

STOP TRYING TO QUIT DRINKING AGAIN!!!!!!

------------------------------------------->>>>>>>>

This time, instead of all that failure to TRY to QUIT DRINKING.....

Instead,

CHOOSE TO EMBRACE SOBRIETY!!!!!

------------------------------------------->>>>>>>>>>

With everything you've got.... with enthusiasm, with sincerity, with specific vision and goals in mind.....

CHOOSE TO EMBRACE YOUR LIFE FULLY!!! (and in sobriety)

------------------------------------------>>>>>>>>>>>

Focus on what that looks like, allow yourself to become excited. Build a detailed picture of what it looks, feels, sounds, tastes like to be fully embracing your life and seeking every bit of joy you can from it.... being present and aware and attuned.

Recognize that drinking simply isn't consistent with that picture. The goal isn't "not drinking". That's simply one piece of the REAL goal.....

TO LIVE A RICH, DEEP, FULL, ABUNDANT, JOYFUL, GIVING, MEANINGFUL, AWESOME LIFE!!!!!

-------------------------------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Stop trying to quit drinking.

START LOVING AND LIVING!!!
