Rainbow appears over Prince's Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota. He has crossed over into Rock n Roll Heaven.

I don't think I had ever heard about substance abuse being associated with Prince. Amazing he died of supposedly natural causes considering he was a rock star since the 70's. He must have been exposed to a lot of drugs /alcohol yet he never had problems with addiction

He has been ill the past few weeks. Spent some time in the hospital and had to cancel some concerts because of it. I seriously doubt it was addiction related.

Truly shocked ever since I heard. Thought he'd be with us for decades more. Loved him & feel so sad.

.
I wouldn't go 'there' yet.

He was a Jehovah's Witness worth an estimated ~$300 Million. He's declined a Hip Replacement over the Years because the need for a Blood Transfusion during Surgery was incompatible with his Religion.

What he was was an intense Workaholic. He'd been fighting the Flu for several Weeks. His Private Jet had set down in Illinois ~1 Week ago for some 'Medical Emergency' while flying back from an Atlanta Show. Note that Respiratory complications took out Glenn Frey of The Eagles while he was in a Hospital with the best care available. We old Guys are a bit more fragile.

Prince wrote all Songs, and played all Instruments, on several of the 39 Albums he put out over 30 Years.

Let's let the Facts roll in.

I'm more inclined to believe a drug emergency as opposed to an illness (flu). He had 46 minutes to touchdown for his flu, but couldn't make it. I would also speculate that stroke may be realistic.

We need to wait until the medical examiner announces the findings and the final results *could* take weeks.

Prince was kind of a different guy, but there's never been even a hint of drug or alcohol problems. I hope the rumors aren't true.

Influenza can be deadly, even for people in otherwise-good health. Regardless of what we learn about Prince's death, this is a sad reminder of why flu shots are so important.

I didn't actually even realize how many of his songs have been a part of my life until today, like Little Red Corvette & Raspberry Beret (just to name two) that take me right back to high school.
RIP Prince, you will be missed.

He was a genius. That word gets tossed around too casually at times but it truly fits him; he was a genius, akin to Mozart. As others have pointed out he was very skilled on more instruments than most people can even name. He sang like an angle, wrote some of the most iconic songs of the last 30 years, penned the biggest hits the Bangles and Sinead ever had and was widely regarded as one of the best guitarists alive until today. His passing leaves a space that no one will be able to fill.

RIP, Prince!

I really hope the drug overdose rumours are untrue. There's never been anything in his history to suggest otherwise.

He's a voice of my generation. I listened to his cds obsessively in my late teens. They were a significant part of my formative years. I'm saddened and will be sadder still if its true that his death was due to drugs.

RIP Purple One.

He wasn't dead but a few hours when some of the news outlets started digging for dirt. Of course there has to be an investigation, but to start saying 'Drug Overdose' prematurely is so unfair. He had a bad hip from an injury decades ago & apparently took pain killers for it. He wasn't known to be an addict - he should have had better help with pain management.

I loved all his stuff. I do regret that I took "Let's Go Crazy" a little too literally back in the day.

Love to all.
