Tonight
Breezed right through the day today, and as I was walking to my car to drive home, the thoughts came rushing in. Which liquor store do I stop at on the way home? I said to myself, I havent had alcohol in 5 days, so any store will do, as I never stop at the same one 2 days in a row. I pass 4 of them along my commute.
So here I am lying on the couch, wondering if it's a Netflix and Chill evening, or hit the sack early to do the gym in the morning. Doesnt really matter much to me, because I know I will be waking up tomorrow with clear thoughts, because I did not drink today.
One day at a time.

The good thing is, we don't have to feel like that again. I know that the possible consequences of me deciding to drink today far outweigh whatever feeling I would get out of it in the short term.
I came home and ran since I couldn't get up this morning to do it. Did some chores, dinner, homework and landed on the couch about my normal time. Briefly considered that this is when I would normally break out the wine but then shrugged it off.

Great job fighting off the AV Gr8ful22 and congrats on day 5.
To everyone early in recovery, don't give up ... you can do this. If your plan has holes in it and you slip just reevaluate it, plug the hole, and keep moving forward.
Best wishes

Gr8 - I went through that a few times in the early days. Thankfully the temptation faded. I began to feel so much better I didn't want to kill the hope I was experiencing. Happy you made it - be proud.
Excellent work, for me old habits were hard to break, I think the hardest one was when I would return empties, it seemed to be second nature to just buy a 24 of beer, the AV would say well after all it isn't costing you anything right.........I ended up taking a mindfulness course three times to ensure I always play the tape through and it sounds like you did.
Have a great weekend, great movie on Netflix called Red
