Thumbs up Topic: Self-Care ... Subtopic: Self-Massage

Massage has been a very big part of my healing process, in all different ways. Reflexology, acupressure/puncture, full body, rolfing, ashiatsu..... you name it, I've either tried it or want to. I know a lot of us have benefitted from hands-on body work such as this & that it can actually lead to big emotional breakthroughs at times too.

I had already been doing plenty of small, targeted reflexology massage at home when I've had migraines & other ailments. So the idea of widening this practice at home really resonates for me personally, and I ran across some great info yesterday while I was looking for info on acupuncture points.

In case anyone else is interested this site was really great because they have free downloadable "cheat sheets" and tips that you can print if you want:

Zu San Li - Point of Longevity - How to Activate It

A Point Of A Hundred Diseases On Your Body: Here Is What Will Happen If You Massage It

This is the acupressure point I was actually trying to research yesterday. This point is referred to as the "Point of Longevity" because activating it alone can help a myriad of health issues. It's actually fairly easy to find compared to other points. I'm going to work on incorporating it into my morning workout routine because it is supposed to also affect your energy levels & doing it too late in the day can lead to insomnia.

Interesting--I've looked into acupressure before but have not actually made it part of a routine. I did have acupuncture for some low back issues a number of years ago and I was astounded at how powerful it could be. However, the cost became prohibitive (of course insurance wouldn't cover it, it's "nonstandard"...) so I stopped.

When I heard about acupressure, it seemed like a "do it yourself" method to the same end, so I was interested, but as I said, I just haven't actually taken any action on this yet.

Awesome - I just bought this thing - Cheap - 35 or 40$ (half the cost of a pro massage)

Totally helps reach those spots without tiring the working hand.
