Wanted a drink
I realized I didn't really want the actual drink, but the drunk that comes with the drink. Being drunk I don't have to think about the real issues. Nor do I have to deal with life. Instead of stopping for the alcohol on my way home, I called my mom. Then when I got home I took the dogs on a longer than usual walk (for this time of the evening).
Now I decided to hop on here and "vent" about wanting to get drunk as opposed to doing it.
Tomorrow I go to a counselor for the first time. I'm a little nervous about it because I know I have to be honest about a lot of things. I'll talk about stuff that I don't like to talk about, but it is necessary so I can kick this once and for all. Perhaps the nervousness of knowing what tomorrow holds is why I want to get lost in my own world.
Anyway, I'm ending day 3 and have had the typical ups and downs.

Don't worry about the counselor.
Everything will be just fine.
Don't try to read into what will happen. Just go and see what happens.
You may just find out that you feel much better after.
I look at things more like an adventure these days.
Just go with the flow and see where it leads. Not bad stuff, but things that might improve me. New things are always kind of scary. But , what do you have to lose?

Best wishes on your counselor, I was very nervous over my first appointment however I lucked out in that we were a perfect match and now I look forward to our appointments and it's a tremendous help and a step in the right direction.
All the best
