Sober and ready to tackle me!
Howdy all!
I was a member of this forum years ago, and am back now, and with a much better understanding of how the disease works. I should be able to bring a unique angle to the board.
I, even as an alcoholic had the same perception of alcoholism as the sober public does......just DONT DRINK! I would try to rationalize it away, but like someone afraid of heights, you can tell them the fear is only in their head, but when you put them on a high-wire they will get vertigo and plunge to their death. Claustraphobic people will go crazy being stuffed in a shoebox, even though the tight space wont hurt them. So, I realized there is something much deeper that compelled me to drink....which brings me to now! I, in the past, always focused on just not drinking, but realize I need to start fixing me....what a task this is gonna be:-) So between this board and AA meetings... once I get my license back, I hope to start repairing my soul!
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know many of you, and can already see there is much wisdom and empathy on these boards.
Warm regards,
Larry-

Hi Larry! Welcome, or should I say, welcome back.
I'm ChrisMan, recovering sexaholic. Different addiction, but very similar in a lot of ways. Thanks for sharing your insights -- I am one month and 19 days sober and am beginning to realize how much work I have to do on myself to remain sober. Tried that negative sobriety thing for years and it didn't work for me, either.
Great to meet you Larry!
