What a waster

So after 4 months sobriety I decided to stop taking the antibuse and go on a 2 day bender. This was my last chance to stay with my wife who I really love but she wants me gone the 4 months sober now mean nothing even though I went straight back to aa I feel totally broken. My son of 15 has been really supportive but I just feel terrible he had to witness me going missing again and coming back a broken man. Has anyone here had to go through a break up and recovery at the same time I could really use some support

I'm sorry that you decided to start drinking again.

I hope that you can focus on your sobriety for yourself and to help your son get through this difficult time.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I'm glad you came back here and went back to AA. What made you decide to drink? Do you have supports in place if you feel the urge again? If you log onto SR there is always somebody to help talk you through that feeling.

Sending hugs your way as you work through this.

❤️ Delilah

Welcome to SR colly. Addiction can make us do some things that really don't make much sense. Staying sober now is more important than ever of course, were you going to AA or using any kind of support leading up to the drinking?

I'm sorry Colly. Unfortunately, just as others have no control over our choices, we have no control over their's as well. It's time for you to focus only on your recovery and allow your wife to do what's best for her. Once you are in a better place you can focus on your relationship with your son.

Best of luck to you!

Hey Scott I was using a drink councillor and antibuse from my gp for for some strange reason I decided I was cured and could drink normally. I'm a sales rep and I had customers out at the weekend there and just went and got black out drunk for 2 days I still feel like death warmed up why do we do this it's insane

Delilah I had decided 2 weeks before I done it someone close stole money from me and I decided what was the point of staying sober for people when I should have remembered that I was staying sober for me😢

when i got into recovery, my husband decided i wasn't any fun anymore. thank goodness i had AA, as the pain was so horrendous i couldn't even breathe at times. i got sober, relapsed, got sober, relapsed...and then it stuck.

AA saved my life. i'm a teeeeny bit close to 2 years sober (i still won't count those chickens!) and i had to do it for me. i live alone apart from my cats, and they wouldn't tell on me if i drank. but i don't, simply because i cannot bear the thought of getting sober again.

oh, and the husband is long gone!
