Day 5 and I'm having thoughts of drinking

This is insane. It's only lunch time here. I've got a long day ahead of me of house cleaning and then the kids go to their dad's tonight, so I'll be alone. It's raining and the kids are out at the movies. I'm having thoughts that a beer or two will make the day go by easier.
I'm working through my daily maintainence list and I've just spent some time journaling and doing my gratitude diary. Now I'm reaching out here.

NONE! EVER!

Look back at your journal of the times that a "beer or two" caused pain. I'm about to make a cup of tea. How about you join me in that instead? Have a bit of lunch, take a walk until the cravings pass.

Thank you. I'm making a cup of tea. Charging my fit bit and I'll go for a walk once that's done.

Noneever, I don't know if you're like me, but it was never just one or two. And once I started, I never got my stuff done. I'd just drink until I passed out. Go for a walk. Keep coming here. Five days Is great and it will get easier.

The walk is out as it's raining quite heavily so I'll do some yoga instead. Ate a huge warm salad of baby spinach leaves, olives, avocado and fetta, lots of roasted vegies. Feeling pretty good.

Nonever, you will have intrusive thoughts like that. Its a reminder that you have a problem. Stick with it. Sounds like the journaling ang gratitude is helping you. I'm on day 20 and feel great. Yeah i still have problems but i feel more in control of them. Love the name!

Every time you resist temptation, you get stronger. Pretty soon you won't have thoughts of drinking at all, or very rarely. Stay strong and keep going, it gets better.
