Here... just riding a wave

Hello!

Just here, recognising my triggers and had a thought to drink. Came in as usual - unexpectedly!

But Ive done a little work on this

Trigger
Regret
Sadness

Why I thought about drinking
To change how I feel

Rationalisation
It is ok to feel emotions, emotions are normal. But that is all they are feelings and feelings do pass. Drinking will only temporarily numb those emotions. The situation why I feel sad and have some regrets cannot be changed. No amount of drinking will ever change the past. No amount of drinking will change the outcome of the situation. One drink will lead you to being drunk. Ride the wave, it WILL pass.

So here I am riding this one out on SR.

Well said, blueberry. "No amount of drinking will change the past."

Hi blueberry. Best thing to remember is learn from it, don't do it again. A lot of people don't seem to mind if they do something regrettable or they just get defensive and justify. You are leaps and bounds ahead.

When we recognize that our emotions do not control us, it's a big step forward in our recovery.
