- Sobriety is not a destination it is a journey
- Sobriety is not giving something up. It is realizing you didn't want it in the first place
- Sobriety is not about losing friends. It is about losing drinking buddies and gaining real friends who genuinely care about you

Sobriety was not the magic cure-all for all of my problems that, for whatever reason I thought it would be. BUT...sobriety gave me the clear head that I needed to begin to address the area's of my life that needed (and still needs) work.

Sobriety is not...
A life sentence but a life learning opportunity.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Not always easy but always worth it.
Not finding new ways to escape your problems but finding new ways to solve and cope with your problems
Not devoid of laughter and joy.
Sobriety is not about intention but rather action.
Sobriety is not a 12 pack of non alcoholic beer.
Sobriety is not a party it's a whole lifestyle.
A life sentence but a life learning opportunity.

Many a time, I feel like i'll always have my old life hanging behind me like a ball and chain.
That is not true. And something I have to tell myself constantly. Sobriety is about being reborn!! So many wonderful possibilities exist in sobriety!

Sobriety is not my goal -- recovery is.
Sobriety is not the end, it is the means.
Sobriety is not nearly as frightful as I thought it would be.
