I'm 26 years old, and I have stage 4 cirrhosis
My test results came in, and apparently I've done terminal damage to my body. Even if I stop drinking, because ALD is a progressive illness, my liver is going to continue to produce scar tissue.
Anyone else living with this reality? Does anything help?

I am so sorry vulturine
I hope you surround yourself with as much support as possible.
I have no insights for you in terms of your health, other than I hope you are or do plan on staying a path to sobriety? Has your doctor offered any advice or options? (No need to answer if you don't want to)
I would say if you have any questions or concerns that you feel your current doctor is not helping with do seek out alfurther medical advice from another doctor.
Do you have professional help for mental and emotional support through this?
I am truly sorry Do stick around there is lots of good support here.

Sounds kind of extreme given the young age. How much did you drink per day? How many years drinking? Beer or "hard" liquor? Details?

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. A sober reminder of how dangerous alcohol is.
The liver is a pretty resilient organ. Don't give up. Talk with your dr about supplements and herbs (stuff like milk thistle) that can help support your liver. Do your homework and fight this.
Hang in there.

A liver transplant could be a possibility; my friend who is about your age and drank heavily was in liver failure and received a donor organ 3 days ago. He has a long road ahead but so far is doing great. Good luck to you.
I relapsed 2 years ago. It started off with a couple beers at night, but it quickly turned into 750mL of vodka every day. I'm a small amounts throughout the day type of drinker.
My doctor told me the obvious. If I never touch alcohol again in my life, my prognosis is a bit better.

I think that is sage advice. You may want to get a second opinion too if you can. If you are still able to walk, move eat and sleep without hospitalization there is probably something that you can do to start the healing process.
I've seen GP, Specialists & ND. I've been taking a propriety blend of Milk Thistle. I don't know if it has helped, but so far my DX isn't as serious. I also drink a lot of fresh lemon water.
I'm truly sorry for your Dx. Could be any of us. I hate alcohol!
Surround your self with others who will support you.
Praying for healing.....

At this point it isn't affecting my life and I have learned that I simply need to take good care of myself and definitely not drink. It is serious but doesn't have to be hopeless!
Please feel free to pm me if you want any additional info.
So sorry to hear this Vulturine. Lots of good advise here already. Always remember, to use every source of support you can find.
We are here for you. Like Sas said, it is serious, but doesn't have to be hopeless.
