Hello
Good morning. Last night and this AM I realized and accepted the fact I'm an alcoholic. I've suspected and been in denial for quite some time now but I realize if I don't get sober I know I'm going to lose everything.
The bottle of wine a couple times a week had turned into a couple bottles most nights of the week. I have an anger and rage that comes out right before I'm about to black out where I'm hateful and disrespectful to the one I love only to wake up in the AM to apologize for things I said last night - many of which when I'm reminded what I said I'm so embarrassed.
I'm quitting drinking for ME because I want my life back and I want to be happy like I was before my drinking spiraled out of control. Only now it will have to be a happy and sober me. I'll be reading and spending plenty of time here so I thank everyone in advance for sharing the stories and the support I'll be reading. I won't lie this is overwhelming.

Welcome to SR zumboat. Well done for getting here, a sober life is so much better.
It's good to have a plan in early recovery, here's Dee's link - http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ery-plans.html

Welcome zumboat, I can safely say you're in the right place. There is always someone around to chat or any questions you have you will be able to find an answer somewhere. I'm just new too, and have joined the march 2016 group find it very helpful to have people going through the same thing at same stages.
Here's a little secret that I learned: right now, everything seems overwhelming, because you have been dulling your emotions with alcohol. As you get further and further away from your last drink, what was once overwhelming slowly becomes the part of life that beings you the joy and excitement that you tried to find with booze. Day to day situations stop being overwhelming when we can approach them with a clear head and an open heart.
