Spudly Intro

Hi,
My story really is no different than another, maybe the names aren't the same, nor the geographical situation.

I have been in and out of AA and mainly because I treated Alcoholism like the common Flu, (rest up a bit then go back out) How wrong have I been and how crazy my mind had become.

Don't try to understand it. Just start to enjoy it! It's true it works. It works if you let it.

Welcome! I completely relate to the flu reference. I've made it a month now, and so many times I think if I've made it this far, I must not have a problem so why not try a few drinks. Now I know one is too many and a thousand never enough. I don't want one drink. I want 6 or 8. I don't want to drink like I see others who can take or leave it. They make no sense to me. So I stay sober and come here.

Welcome Spudly! I completely relate to your analogy. I am actually working hard on my recovery for the first time after countless relapses. Most of my relapses were on purpose, because I sincerely believed that I was immune to the consequences of alcohol abuse, regardless of what history had proven to me over and over again. Congratulations on your decision to make a serious run at sobriety this time! I know that if I can maintain my sobriety, anyone can. Keep us updated!

Welcome to the family. The support here has helped me stay sober for over six years. I hope we can do the same for you.
