Day 60 check in
Well, it's day 60 today. (!) I feel ok, but have had some PAWS and the AV talked loud a few times. At least now I know not to listen. I have had an alcohol problem for years and have tried to quit for years. Once I went a year without drinking. You know how this ends, on day 366 I drank thinking I could handle it. Another time I went 11 months until family issues sent me over the edge. My last attempt was 30 days, before that I made it 112 days. So you can see I have a pattern of relapse. I do think, for newcomers, my advice is do what I finally did. Look at yourself and ask "why am I drinking?" When I did that I began to understand my past issues. Drinking just provided an escape for a short time. I also had to face the fact that one drink would take me back down the road to drinking all weekend, then weeknights, then missing work hung over, etc. This time I am not listening to the AV when he calls. I know that I don't want another day 1. Thanks for the support. This forum is a great help. I try to read the posts here every day, and to everyone struggling - you are not alone. We have all been on day 1. I am working my plan, and I have hope.
Congrats on two months, Jim1958, and thanks for sharing your story with us. I am also a chronic relapser and it does me good to see others moving forward with their recovery. If you can do it, I can too.
congrats on 60 days!! Appreciate your insight on relapses. I too went for over a year, then thought I didn't have a problem and went back with all sorts of limits and criteria that slowly disappeared. Glad to be back on the right path!
You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Glad to read that you've been sober for 60 days!
I'm sure you've been frustrated and disappointed by your relapses, but it sounds like you've learned something every time. And knowledge is power!
Congrats and keep on rolling!
