30 minute count down to day 10
Feeling quite good today the main key is not to be isolated. I had my alcohol group where I got lots of admiration for my 9 days sober- didn't gloat at all as it's actually a detox prep group and the majority of people are waiting for funding for a medical detox. It's a great group and we do support each other.
I , and I know most would not reccomend this, went for the first time to my main local pub to give a key back to a friend. It was strange as I had no thought of drinking alcohol at all. In fact my friend who i thought was my main enabler welcomed me with " can I buy you a soft drink" . Someone else mentioned they hadn't seen me for a while and I said I was having some down time and they replied " good for you" . Both these people are functioning alcoholics.
I used to sit in the pub for hours and hours - how and why the hell did I do that!!!! After 2 pints of lemonade I drove my mate home completely sober and we agreed to go to lunch this week.
I'm hoping if I'm not up all night so I can go to another AA meeting at 11am tomorrow.
It's strange but I have no interest in alcohol at all and in 15 mins it will be midnight here in the uk and the start of day ten. Every day I like myself a teeny bit more and even my wife congratulated me and gave me a big cuddle earlier

Congrats on double digits! Glad it went well today but be careful going around pubs, especially ones that you were a regular at, in the early days. It's awful easy to fall back into bad habits. Wishing you the best as you continue this journey of recovery...

caseyW I know it was quite a dangerous thing to do and spent time preparing myself for it. I also am very aware that I don't want to become a dry drunk and not move my life on. The more I embrace a new sober life the more I think I will detach from my old life.
