Slipped at 10 days

had a slip and drank 4 beers last night and did some drugs. Nothing like the bad old days but a grim reminder, none the less, how powerful my addictions can be if i don't remain vigilant. The better things get in my life, the more likely I am to forget how bad they really were. Off to another AA meeting in a bit. I'm grateful i didn't do much worse and I'll take this as the lesson it can be and carry on with my recovery.

Yes, my plan is to keep attending AA, just more often and post on here more often as it helps keep my honest. working on health as well. I really feel it was just poor planning in the first place that led to the slip.

It's great that you have such a positive attitude over the slip and are using it as a learning experience instead of an excuse to go on a bender

It's easy to slip when the initial "buzz" of sobriety starts to wear off. Congrats for getting back on the horse.

Sorry about your slip, but the important thing you said is that you're still going to a meeting. Shows your focused and determined. You're gonna do fine. John

The first few weeks after quitting were always the hardest because I used to convince myself I had my habit under control. I would always fall back to my old ways.

Glad your going to a meeting, keep it up.

Yes, wheat - sometimes we need further proof that we can't touch the stuff. I'm so glad you didn't let it turn into something worse.

Two steps forward, one back, two more forward ... maintain progress until you no longer want intoxication as a remedy for what ails you.
