Its been a while...
Haven't posted in a long time. I am 63 days sober (this time) but have been reluctant to post because while I am mostly doing well, I've thought the same thing many times before and have failed at this.
I'm not taking a single sober moment for granted I know all too well what can happen if I do and I'm so grateful for all the support I have received over the years both on this board and from people in my life. It is still not easy, I've used alcohol for everything for most of my life, but every day my sober muscles are getting stronger, every day I find I can do something without drinking that I once thought was impossible.
Today my lupus is flaring up and I am in a lot of pain. Alcohol used to help that too, but that's not an option for me anymore. So I thought I'd check in instead. It's awesome to see so many familiar names here and so many new people determined to make positive changes in their life's. Don't ever give up

Ellison...I was around in 2011 as well...and I went back to drinking in 2014....and I am JUST now getting back to trying to avoid the demon.
Congratulations on your 63 days...I know what you mean about being over zealous about being sober and then going back...that is what has happened to me for the last 2 years....I have a month sober tomorrow!
We have to have that "healthy fear" of alcohol. For us (I assume you are very much like me)....drinking equals a quick death...which may even be the very next drink for us.
My last time on Jan 31....I ended in hospital for 9 days...many IV bags (about 17)....Heparin shots in my stomach...being walked arm in arm to walk.....commode next to my bed cause I couldn't make it to a toilet. Actually the first day they didn't even move me...just put the pan underneath me. No shower for 25 days prior to my hospitalization...no food...just VODKA.
I used to be a beer drinker....vodka became easier to swallow, threw up less.....it was a total nightmare.....How quick I DO forget thou.....I've had thoughts (strong ones) over the last couple of days.....its very scary....lets keep going.
