The weekend
Good morning all.
I have a long work day ahead but find myself thinking of the weekend. I dreaded the weekend during my drinking years because I would always ratchet up from far too much weekly alcohol to far far worse quantities in those two days.
When I quit drinking, on a sad Monday, I dreaded the upcoming weekend the entire week. What would I do? I seen any of you with the same worries and weaknesses regarding this time period.
What I learned beginning the first sober weekend and through the 25-30 subsequent ones is that weekends rock when I'm not drinking. All the free time we worry about is why weekends were invented. They were only not free when I used the extra time to destroy myself.
Things to do:
Garden, walk, drink coffee and read the paper or a good book, catch up on nagging to-dos such as taxes (this weekend 😳 spend time with folks you care about, go visit old people, take an online class, drive to the country and see some nature etc....
Without the alcohol weekends have become my favorite time of the week. A time to recharge rather than destroy.
I hope you all have a great one.
