Trippy Dreams

I've been clean for nearly two weeks and have been experiencing intensely vivid dreams, some nightmares and some not. It's funny that I never had such vivid dreams, even when on some really good drugs. Sobriety is quite a trip.

Welcome, glad you've joined us. I think the wild vivid dreams are pretty normal for us. My experience is that they lessened as time passed but I still have them occasionally. They're a reminder of a time I never want to return to.

This past Saturday was not a good night. Had one of those acidy waking dream things going on - no visuals but extremely tripped out with feelings of dread and death. I could not focus on the moment to save my life. I had no choice but to ride it out, uncomfortable as it was. It was the first time in my sobriety that I have cried.

Glad you are here, dude.

Better to have drinking and using dreams than participating in the real thing.

Far less consequences.

Thanks, SoberCAH. Glad I found this forum. Easier sometimes to type the thoughts than to speak them at this point in things.

Agree! My bad dreams have stopped since giving up alcohol. I don’t understand the connection, but greatly welcome peaceful sleep 😴

I see you wrote this in March of last year. I pray you are still sober, and that you only have peaceful sleep now.. I cried the first two weeks of my sobriety. I think it was part detox and part finally dealing with feelings I suppressed with alcohol. God speed❤️
