Smile 36 hours since my last drink

I've been in bed with flu-like symptoms that I know as my body rejecting the alcohol I put in it. Feeling better now and starting to get up and functioning again. Not the worst Day One I've ever had. My day one in 2009, I thought my heart was going to give out. I stayed sober for six and half years. I thought I was perhaps cured. Then a coworker talked me into having a scotch.

I am grateful for the new resentments I have towards my coworkers. Lol

Good for you for starting over and not letting it turn into a major bender . And I like that..."grateful for resentments..." I'm gonna remember that one.

Welcome to SR Michael. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, don't be afraid to seek help if you need it locally.

Did you use any formal sobriety method during your 6.5 years of sobriety? That's quite an accomplishment, hope we can help you make a plan to get anotehr 6.5 years ( and more )starting today.

I went to AA a few times, but since I didn't go every time and every day, they kind of rejected me. I did also use a lot of Buddhist meditation. I still have that book and got away from meditation. My completely forgetting that I am an alcoholic is where I got lost.

I've been in teh restaurant business for 24 years.

Rethinking that strategy today though...

A plan? Usually I'm so wrapped up in working that I haven't thought about it. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your reminder that we can never become too complacent. I am coping well and now 14 months sober. However just lately thoughts of maybe being able to have one or two to socialise have entered my mind. I should know better and I do really, but its good to remind myself that the consequences of one drink could be awful. Thank you for this very timely reminder. Stay strong together we can do this, leb

A plan is a good place to start Michael. Even if you are very busy, a recovery plan can help you to stay on track and can be there when a tough situation comes along.
