Working on a Year of Firsts
Working on a Year of Firsts
November 4, 2015 is my quit date, so it was interesting having my first sober Thanksgiving. What a time to quit; the holidays with event after event, most which include drinking. I was really rather dreading the whole thing.
But Thanksgiving was a small group and not a lot of drinkers so it was easy and I was the designated driver. Can you imagine! Me!
I read here on SR somewhere (sorry, I can't remember who said it) that early sobriety is like a newborn baby and that you should protect it and guard it as such. Do everything within your power to keep it safe. And that's what I did through Christmas and New Years.
It's a year of firsts. Next up, my first sober St.Patrick's Day. And the year marches on.
But now, instead of dread, I'm looking forward to these events as I will be experiencing them in a brand new way.
How fun to try something new!
Here's to a sober year!
