So I slowly stopped going to AA meetings about a year ago. within a month I thought I might have a couple of drinks and see how that went. I'm on my second job since I restarted drinking and nearly lost that one this last Thursday for not showing or calling in because I was drunk...again. I went in early Friday morning and told my boss I am an alcoholic and I going to reconnect with AA and recovery in general (that's why I joined this forum) I thanked him for the job and made no promises other than I was ready to do the work to be sober again, job or no job. He said he didn't want to let me go, but would have no choice if I didn't follow thru. I'm pretty grateful and tonight I'm on my way back to a local AA group I used to attend. Although my body currently feels like crap, My spirits haven't been this positive in a very long time.
Thank you all for the kind thoughts and nice welcome. just got back from the meeting and am feeling more connected and more hopeful. Today i didn't break a promise, a heart or a law.
Welcome Wheat, glad you found us, are back in AA, and that your boss was supportive. I'm not sure where you live, but most HR departments have assistance for employees, perhaps your boss gave you that info as well. I know where I work there is a program called EASE and I have given the information to employees for multiple reasons, might be another source of support.
