New to recovery
My wife followed me halfway across the country to now see me on release from my school.
They're working hard to support me.
I'm new to A.A.
Drank a half bottle of mouthwash.
I'm a piece of ****.

You're not worthless, you just don't know your true worth.
You're not hopeless, you just have lost hope.
You're not helpless, we'll help you.
Give yourself a break. Don't use/drink today and get to a meeting.

Hello and welcome.
I drank the whole bottle of mouthwash. That was a low. But it got even lower.
You're not a piece of ****. That's what I looked at myself as and it didn't exactly help my self-esteem.
Everyone is new when they start going to AA. I went past the building of the meeting for four days. Too afraid to go in. When I finally did, I found people just like me. I find them here, too.
I failed at school. I failed at about everything until I quit drinking. I even failed at quitting drinking a hundred times.
You're not alone. Stick around here, you'll find lots of support.
Hang in there, things can and will get better.

Hi and welcome Helmholtz
I understand the self loathing - but it does you no good - probably drives you closer to drinking again.
If you're drinking mouthwash that's pretty serious - have you considered rehab, or at least seeing a Dr for help with detox?

Welcome to SR, Helmholtz.
You are not worthless - not at all.
Hope that the support, understanding and encouragement you find here can help you reclaim your life, your sense of worth, and lasting sobriety and recovery.
Glad that you are here.

Well, you've identified the problem, now to work on the solution.
That takes a good man to even get that far -- you're much better than a piece of ****, for taking an honest look at yourself and deciding to makes changes.
