I'm just shy of a year of sobriety, yet yesterday was a close call for a number of reasons. Looking back, I can definetly see HALT was at play. Also resentments. I'm working the 4th step now with my sponsor, and always scoffed at the word "resentments", thinking I didn't carry that many. Wrong. Yesterday I really dredged a few up from my past and was really contemplating drinking again. My justification was that I could probably have another decade of drinking before things really got too bad. Really????? Like that's a good plan? I quit drinking when I was at a high bottom, but yesterday I was considering going back out.... I could put up with more misery for 10 more years for that buzz that drinking offered, for that blessed oblivion. No, I'm not going to. I'm playing the tape forward. Glad I came to my senses. Glad I got you guys to come to when I need support. Thanks.

Wow. Yay on your upcoming anniversary. I just wrapped up a week--I can't wait for it all to be a year behind me. Sounds like you thought it all through and resisted. That is something to be very proud of.

Hey cleomie - great decision. You will feel so awesome making your 1st birthday. And what I'm finding is that it really helps my long term sobriety resolve because I don't want to give up all the hard work I did to achieve it!
