An Angel
An Angel
I had the most amazing thing happen to me today and it only reinforces my belief that there are far more good people in the world than bad
I received the follow message on Facebook.
Hey MIRecovery...I own an auction house and antique mall in the flint area and came across an ornate silver plated tray with the inscription "THE MAZINAW LAKE GANG...TO "TEDDY LAKE" 1968. I found a forum online that mentioned Teddy Lake being a relative of yours? would you like the tray? I would give it to you for free if you are interested. Let me know...Thanks.
To say I was interested is an understatement. Teddy Lake is my Grandmother or technically my Step Grandmother but she is the only Grandmother I knew because my biological Grandmother died before I was born. Mazinaw lake is where she and my Grandfather had a cottage and is about 200 miles NE of Toronto Canada out in the boonies where I spent every vacation there until my Grandfather died.
So this random stranger first researches the platter and finds out I am connected to it. I have a weird name so he looked me up on Facebook and found me. Then is willing to send the tray to me for the cost of shipping.
Absolutely amazing a tray that belonged to my Grandmother who lived 600 miles from me came into the possession of someone who lives a 100 miles from me and has been bouncing around multiple countries for 50 years somehow found it's way back home. How it left the family I have no idea because both my father and grandparents have passed away.
All I can say is the world is a better place because of this person and he will be in my prayers of gratitude for a long time

The kindness of strangers always renews my faith in mankind.
How nice that you will have your grandmother's platter as a reminder of her.
There are no coincidences, to me. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Altho we may not know the reason.

MIR,
Thanks for sharing.
I had a day yesterday that made me doubt mankind, so happy to be reminded its not universal.
I believe in Karma, so that dude is getting something good, and you deserved it.
As we on SR know.
Thanks for being you
