Survive and Thrive Weekender March 4
Survive and Thrive Weekender March 4
Looked back on some early threads this past few days. Yikes that's tough to do. The desperation in each of my words. My mind races back to each moment and I wonder what unique combination of unknown stars in the sky must have come together to save me. The "unsaveable".
For every day one I posted. For every "why can't I stop" I cried. For every glass of water I drank in the hopes it would flush the system before work. Oh yes.... For the many days I called in with the latest and most rarest of ailments.
I was out numbered and overwhelmed back then. Still am now. That when I posted for help. That I needed the way pointed out to me. The survivors here on SR were there. In amazing numbers, I saw what it was like to be sober. It was the very first time I understood that survival is an option.
SR and this thread have helped me survive. But the weekender is not just about survival today. It's about seeing that thriving is also possible. One crazy-learning-weekender-experience at a time. No rushing to the next great thing when this moments great things are happening now.
A simple hello is all it takes as a ticket on the sober bus. You will survive this weekend. No craving has the power to kill so let's thrive together.
Ok.... How many songs around this can we get in this weekend? Hahah!
*Ring Ring* BIM!
Welcome to your sober weekend!

Although I am quite sober, I received a sobering reminder this morning of the destructive power of the adversary within us.
Back in 2010 a woman Mrs Nons worked with killed someone while driving drunk. She served 5 years of a 10-year sentence and was released last year. While in prison her husband divorced her and took their very young son with him.
Earlier this week she was put back in jail for 90 days for attempting (3 times) to start her breathalyzer-equipped car while drunk - a violation of her parole.
If you're still drinking, reach out now. This is thing can ruin your life.

This is my first contribution to this thread! Looking forward to a sober weekend hanging out with two of my grandchildren that live out of town. While both parents drink, I'm never tempted at their place so I should return with a full week sober!
Happy to be on the bus :-)
