But I'll get back, on my feet someday...
Day 1. Today.
Promised the Docs a 30 day detox. Plan to go much longer.
18 years drunk. Bad liver. Bad ticker.
In the process of transition to the Esselstyn diet.
Need to move my body more after being sedentary for 38 years.
Gotta be here to give my daughters away someday.
Been tapering for awhile, have some Valerian and Kudzu.
Some other supplements and vitamins for liver health.
Been reading here for a long time. Been speculating I have a problem far too long to have not taken action. Nonalcoholics don't ever wonder if they have a problem with alcohol.
Thanks to all the veterans here who have already given me more good advice than I know what to do with.
White Knuckle time. AV already talkin' 'bout tonite. Shaddup!!!

Welcome GussWest. Love the name.
I'm glad you've decided to get yourself healthy and free. I also knew I had a problem long before I did anything to help myself. Coming here made me feel like part of a family who really understood. No one else in my life got it. You're never alone. We know you can have a new start & live the life you should.

Getting Day One is in some ways the hardest part...there's always some incredible reason my addictive voice could come up with to put it off... ("It's Wednesday! That's a dumb bland little day to quit. Why not, you know, next Monday?")
Once you get that one little glimpse of daylight, you start to believe it's possible. And that you can.
Stick around tonight? Or do you have a distraction plan in place?

But, in sobriety I exercise and feel pretty good for 65 years of age.
What I say,
if one is breathing there is still much hope.
Good luck,

I have a diversion plan for tonite. Exhausted from a day of medical tests.
To drink is to die.
I've pulled up SR on the smartphone. Its good to know you're here if I need you.
To drink is to die. **** booze.

Start slow when exercising. Just a 10 minute walk a day for a few days until you get back into the swing of things. Dont go all out and start running two miles.
Make sure you hydrate well! I drank a ton of Pedialyte during my first two weeks of recovery it helps a lot more than Gatorade to get hydrated.
Eat well. Lean meats, veggies, fruits, whole grains. Stay away from sugar candy, sodas, etc.
Its all a process but you can do it.

Day two nearly over. Some craving but not too bad. Slept well, coulda slept till noon!
Doc wants to add a statin per the JUPITER trial. Need to do some research.
Tried a bit of kava root tea tonite. Anxiolytic but will need to tread with caution. BTW, proper kava root is not hepatotoxic!
Doc was giddy re detox and another lb down. I like 'em!
Got another 3TB of music today. Should be a nice diversion for next couple weeks.
Still on the job hunt. My biggest stressor right now. Was planning on a nice bottle to celebrate. Will need a new plan!
Night y'all!
