Once again a new comer

I am powerless over my addictions and powerless over a lot of life regarding consequences of my actions. I take full responsibility. Today marks week 1 of being sober. I'm enrolled in AA and taking this a day at a time. Grateful to have SR, I just bought the App and am going to keep this by my side. Thank you for listening.

Glad that you are back Charles.

I would also suggest that you join us at the 24 hours recovery connections where we commit not to drink or drug for the day
It is a fun supportive way to hold ourselves accountable

Another thing which really helped me when I got back in recovery was to join the class of Jan 2013 where I was able to network with my peers who quit at the same time.
Here is the link to the class of March 2016. I hope you enjoy the ride, generally speaking the "Marchers" are a merry crew

You can do it with our support and the support of the AA folks. Lean on us

Thanks you guys. Extra tough leaving a relationship where you fantasized about it being the way you wanted it for life, messing up to the point where it's taken away. Hurts super bad. All I want to do is place blame and resentment and now I'm taking a different approach. acceptance.

Welcome back! I'm over six years sober and I still post in the 24 hour thread to renew every day my commitment to being sober.

I'm on day 2. I know how the blame, anger, guilt, regret, self-pity and loathing feel. I to had a fairy tale relationship and future that was ripped apart in large part by drugs and alcohol. I've been spiraling ever since.

But look at where we are! This community of healing and support. We found the right place to start again despite all of those negative attributes previously mentioned. Longing and regret are what I deal with the most these days.

I've been using the advice from people on here to turn around my attitude and keep myself not only distracted but moving forward. If i can make it to 4 days it will be a goal i havnt reached in well over a year.

Be strong! We can do this together.

I'm in those shoes as well, bud. We have to own our past while understanding that it doesn't define who we are today. We have to learn from our mistakes and misdeeds so that we become better people and don't repeat them.
