65 Days: Feeling dumb, but getting better!

Mentally, the brain fog is there. Also, I'm experiencing crazy fatigue. But, there are many pluses to getting sober:

- As of today, I have NO credit card debt. Zero (most of my debt was due to drinking).
- I've spent more time with my family and my wife's side of the family (I'm actually getting to know them and build relationships now instead of avoiding get togethers because of a desire to sit home and drink alone).
- I'm much more efficient at my job and don't dread the weekday mornings.
- Weekends are longer -- and I remember them!
- I celebrated my birthday sober last Saturday, and I can't remember the last time I've genuinely laughed that hard instead of having alcohol-infused laughter. Spent time with family and friends and enjoyed wonderful food.
- My wife and I are growing closer. Things that were problems before are gone. We enjoy each other's company, not each other's Beasts!
- I'm actually feeling like an adult. At 35, this should have occurred earlier, but I'll take what I can get.
- I have hope.

These are just a few things. I know it's only been 65 days, but each day is proving more and more that this IS worth it. Life without alcohol makes life possible for me.

Thanks for your support along the way!

Amazing how much better life is sober,
yet so many of us drinkers are terrified we'll be bored and unhappy.
Great post RaH!

Awesome job! Just passed 2 months myself...Feel good , then tired , then out of it , then good , then grumpy , then stressed , then good , ...But defenitly more focused..And those durn headaches and dizziness pretty much subsided..

Just want some energy back!

Way to go!

Happy Belated BD, RattleAndHum. Congratulations to you and to your family.

I remember being tired and I also remember really sleeping instead of passing out. It felt terrific to wake up refreshed instead of hungover and craving that next drink.

The benefits of sobriety will continue to pile up with new ones arriving all the time. Remember to say yes to them. Onward!

I feel this. Looking at the big picture, however, things are a heck of a lot better. I'll be even happier when the fog and fatigue lift as well. That's where we got to be patient and give ourselves time. Keep it up!
