My first post here - introduction
Hello,
I have been an addict for 29 years. I have had one 8 year period of abstinence from my drug of choice but maintained in other ways. Ultimately leaving the back door open didn't work for me and I relapsed for a further 5 years. I have recently been through a rehab based Detox and am engaging in complete abstinence. It's now been 15 days without a chemical of some sort in my system. With the exception of Naltrexone. This is a first since I was 14. I'm looking forward to finding the simple things and enjoying the new me. I found peer support very useful in rehab and would like to access that through here, and hopefully provide some support myself. There are a few groups in my area but I find these a bit clicky. During my 8 year abstinence from my d.o.c I worked in local Drug and Alcohol services which has further inhibited my access to services when I most needed it. I look forward to meeting like minded folk on here.
