Apparently

Moderation or lack thereof seems to be a theme... Last Monday I started a 1000 piece puzzle to busy myself... Finished it Saturday.

Last night I started a 750 piece one... And with the help of being home with my son today I just finished it.

I'm going to take a deep breath and step away from the puzzles .

😀

You have patience and perseverance. I've never been able to do puzzles. Do you frame your puzzles and hang them? A friend of mine does them and gets this kind of 'glue' that holds them together, and then frames and hangs them. They look really nice.

If it keeps you from drinking, then keep putting those pieces together.

I have one large one that my brother had a custom frame made for and gave me as a birthday gift. It is a Tree Of Life painting and I had given the puzzle to my mom as a gift. She and my brother and I all worked on it together and it's one of the last puzzles that she did before she passed. (He also framed the very last one which he did with her and he has that one).

I hadn't done a puzzle in probably 15 years but did starting week 1 of sobriety. I finished it last week. It was a good distraction and change up of habit from TV+Beer.

I understand you wanting to step away, but my patience does not run to jigsaw puzzles, so you have my admiration

One key to sobriety is learning to balance things.

It is a challenge for me!

Good for you!! I don't have the patients either! Great post!! Keep up the good work!

My brother in law is into puzzles and has a couple crazy cats, they get up on the table and knock peices off the table, eat pieces etc.. He found these little gizmos that have a motion sensor and when it detects the cats it goes off it makes a crazy noise and they run off.. I think he's into puzzles to get away from my sister! Haha

This reminds me of a episode of everyone loves Raymond where Ray & Robert's MIL are doing a jigsaw puzzle and Robert gets jelous and attempts to join in he gets frustrated quickly & bites a piece to fit - classic

My youngest neice is excellent at jigsaw puzzles I remember visiting & doing them with her and thinking for a then 3yr old she is really good at them

I've thought about getting a jigsaw puzzle from time to time

Putting the pieces back together seems an appropriate metaphor.

you should... Very therapeutic. I've realized for me it's like getting into a good book.. Once I start I don't want to put it down til I'm done. Unfortunately I do so at the expense of ignoring everything else.. Must find the balance :-)

You made me remember that I've always wanted to start doing puzzles! And btw, if it keeps you from drinking, keep putting together those pieces! And isn't it wonderful you could do something together with your son?

I can't even imagine, I loathe puzzles! Better puzzles than about a million other things haha
