Sending a letter to my brothers probation officer
My brother is an alcoholic I'm am also but I have recovered nine years of AA recovery. Anyways my brother is an chronic alcoholic hes progressed since the age of 12. He also addicted to oxycotin an adderal wghich came after many years of drinking. I wrote in the letter jail won't help he'll drink the day he gets out I said he needs rehab drug court and seven AA meetings a week he make 1500$ to 2000$ aweek by the end of the week he won't have money for gas. I said he's were I was nine years ago chronic alcoholic opiate attack threw God AA and great sponsorship I have recovered lost the obssession for both. He doesn't pay child support for his first kid and he doesn't give his new baby's mama any money either. I'm not going to lie back and wate for him to hit bottom a bottom when you stop digging. love my brother very much he's been to court so many times and gets a big fine or a slap on the rist.
dsmaxis....I completely understand how much you love your brother......
I hope that the court has, and will sentence him to a treatment program......
Some states do have such programs...I hope Michigan is one of them.....
It helps if you have a good and motivated probation officer---who is interested in rehabilitation.....
A good probation officer turned my son's life around....he is now sober.....

Steppe, I am so sorry for your loss.
dsmaxis... I personally think you did the right thing. It's correct that he won't stop until he is ready, but you have to know for yourself you have done everything you could to get him there.
Blessings.
