Another Sunday - Marks another Week!

I quit drinking on 1/2/16. On the day before I quit, I drank a whole bottle of Vodka by myself. I woke up in the morning and just decided that was that.

So here I am on the morning of day 50, sober, clear headed. I am actually in control now. I am free of the worries that went along with drinking.

I think I am doing better at work and certainly having a better relationship with my wife and kids.

I can take on the simple and tough problems of life without the disadvantage of being buzzed or drunk.

I do think of drinking or getting a drink every day.

Wondering when those thoughts will go away? Or is that the demon that will stay with me forever?

Congrats on 50 days sober! I've been sober over six years and still sometimes get thoughts of drinking. But the thoughts are easily dismissed as my number one priority is staying sober.

Congrats on 50 days! I'm 6.5 months sober, and I don't necessarily think about wanting to drink every day, but I still think about alcohol in one way or another. I'm not sure if those thoughts will always be there, but I don't really see it as a bad thing. It's kind of a daily reminder for me to stay on top of my recovery.

Regarding your thoughts, you will likely find out the answer to that the longer you remain sober. More importantly, congrats on 50 days. That's great. I'm guessing you feel pretty good too.

Congratulations on 50 sober days, Martin.

With time that voice will get softer and softer and more and more infrequent.

As least said, when it does show up, it becomes so easy to kick it to the curb.

Congratulations Martin on 50 days

50 days is great...but if you're like me you drank for years...decades even - it's going to take a while for those thoughts to fade away - but they will.

The important thing is to never give into them and if you ever need help remember we're here
