Another first I believe

Happy Valentines Day everyone, we celebrated last night. It was done alcohol free. I did the shopping and the cooking. It was done with real ingredients like whole milk and real butter. Not necessarily the healthiest, but you can't beat it for how it tastes. After dinner we watched the debate, what a brawl that was. And this morning we slept in until 9AM, that never happens. It was a minor accomplishment, but I feel good about it. Hope everyone has a good day.

Sounds like a lovely Vday thomas--thanks for sharing

Real butter and whole milk sounds like Alfredo sauce?

The real butter and milk was for the hollandaise sauce on fresh asparagus, and also real butter for the seafood. Fresh garlic for the mashed potatoes. Good stuff.

Food has been my respite (I think I' using that word correctly) from alcohol. The exercise routine is next on the docket. I'm dragging my feet a little bit on that though.

I'm with you on the food. I've been cooking way, way more than ever before. I'm doing my best to keep it as healthy as possible. I haven't had fast food in weeks now. I also need to get exercising into my routine but I'm just not motivated with this time of year.

Sounds like you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Glad to hear it!

So here's a twist. We had a nice weekend, I did some things that I felt good about. I felt good about my first sober valentine, doing the shopping and cooking, and I told my friend basically to stay home because he tends to over-do it, and be brings his dogs and all that jazz. Yet after reading the morning paper, my mental state deteriorated for the remainder of the day. Can't put my finger on it really, just feel kind of down. Trying not to read too much into it. Tomorrow my wife is off work, so I'm happy for her, she deserves a break. Maybe its just the winter blues. But I should be immune to them, I've lived here my whole life.
