Just a thought:-)
Just a thought:-)
Good morning,
I posted this in the January class as well, but thought the quote at the bottom was a great mind frame for all of us whether we celebrate the Lenten season or not, actually, just a good way to live life.:-)
Yesterday was Ash Wednesday and the discussion the night before in my house was around what they decided to give up.
My 12 1/2 year old gave up her phone except to be able to text or call me after school, no social media, apps, games, or texting with friends, that is huge for her.
My 11 year old was going to give up all sweets, but once she realized that meant no donuts on Saturday or Aunday morning she revised it to no candy.
My 8 year old gave up candy.
My husband is undeccided still.
I have decided that giving up wine will count this year, and I decided to follow this advice from a quote I saw:
During Lent
Fast on Criticism, and
Feast on Praise
Fast from self-pity, and
Feast on joy.
Fast from ill-temper, and
Feast on contentment.
Fast from jealousy, and
Feast on love.
Fast from pride, and
Feast on humility.
Fast on selfishness, and
Feast on service.
Fast from fear, and
Feast on Faith.

Whether or not we recognize the season of Lent I thought the words above were good ones.
Happy Thirsday everyone!

What a great list; thanks, Delilah.
Your children seem to have given a lot of thought to their fasting this Lent; I especially admire what your oldest has given up for Lent - that is a huge sacrifice for someone her age.

Great list, Delilah! It sounds like you have very thoughtful children as well .
Last year at this time I gave up wine for Lent. I made it 7 days. That's when I realized my drinking was a much larger issue and I needed a complete overhaul.
This year it is Diet Coke. Also, a much larger issue than I realized!
