Back to the meetings
well after another suicide attempt Friday night and waking up in hospital with my dad crying at my bedside was enough for me to say no more. I was wearing a nappy and apparently it took the hospital staff 7 hours to wake me up. so after 3 days in hospital wasn't to sure if I wanted to go to the meeting but I made myself go just pictured my dad crying and I'm now glad I went
Welcome back, danb!

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Be sure to get the right level of support about the suicide, too. That's some serious stuff. If whatever triggered that is still hanging around, please get that addressed.
wow.
I'm glad you're here, alive, and able to type those words.
Thank you for sharing with us. This is a heavy post that is a somber reminder of how deadly serious this stuff is.
Meetings... yes. Get to them. Pick up that Big Book too, if you haven't already. It's worth reading. Several times.
And keep your head in the game by staying active here with us... it helps.

I am so glad that you did not die. My X who was also an alcoholic committed suicide and it is so devastating for those left behind and such a waste.
You might not see it right now, but you have people who love you and you have things to give others too. Everyone has gifts and the potential to share them.
Glad you are going back to meetings and I hope you will also join us on the 24 hours club where we commit not to drink or drug for that day. It is a fun supportive way to hold ourselves accountable

Hang in there, with support from a therapist, the folks in AA and us on SR you can pull through and come out on the other side. Life might not always be easy but it is worth living

Ok so this might be a little personal for me, but I had a friend who committed suicide. And let me tell you the reason why s/he did was sooooo not worth it. Had this person just waited it out, it would have all resolved itself in the end.
Nothing, and I repeat nothing is worth killing yourself or someone else. The situation might seem dire at first, but you can always do something, you can always talk to someone... Just remember you will have a lifetime to see the situation corrected, you have a lifetime to make amends and make something right, you have a lifetime- and you dont want to cut that lifetime short. You only get one. One life, One shot at life. One.
Im glad you are going to meetings, you dont want to ruin this one.
