Hi I am new to this form and also new to this hole thing. But not new to alcohol. I have a problem with it. I am going to try today to work on this. What is the best way to detox. I have to do this alone. I cant go anywhere. Any suggestions of what to eat, drink etc. Thanks so much.
Hi and welcome to SoberRecovery,
Do you have a friend who could stay with you or at least check on you? Withdrawing from alcohol can be dangerous, depending on how much you drink. I would suggest that you don't do this alone. If you do, make sure to have someone check on you. I don't have any personal experience withdrawing from alcohol, I was more about the drugs, but people will be along soon with some advice. Keep posting and let us know how you are.

Hi Debbie
JC here - Alcoholic - welcome to SR. Congrats on your decision to do something about your drinking
Detox is a very strong word !! - and I'm not a doctor - may I suggest you go and see your doctor if you have any health issues as suddenly stopping drinking can be very dangerous especially if you have been drinking heavily. I went to see mine and she ws great - gave me something to take the edge off for a few days.
When I stopped I had a few nights of restless sleep and felt pretty eurgghh, but it went after about 4 days. Lots of fluid and dig out some good books for tonight - reading and more reading kept me occupied.
Are you going to join a program.??
much love

Sherry and JC give you excellent advice about withdrawal concerns. Other posters will come along and help out as well. Again, welcome. We're so glad that you're here and giving sobriety a try.

Hi Debbie,
JaySee gave great advice. See your dr first and then just basically take care of yourself. Try to drink a lot of juice and water and eat well if you can. You'll probably feel physically uncomfortable for a few days and not sleep well.
Keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

Withdrawls are not fun...
everybody had some good advice.
I do not know how much you drink or on what level.
Try to keep your body hydrated.
Showers help with the sweats.
Prayer.
Sleep.
