Gonna be a long day
Gonna be a long day
Hello SR I've been on a ten month drinking escapade and have to restart TODAY. Worried to death and have knots in my stomach but I know I have to stop drinking. I'm so sick of it. I do nothing, have no friends and am tired of the lies and deceit that goes with supporting my addiction. What in the world am I gonna do with my time? Sounds stupid considering god gave us a whole world to play with. Sorry just rambling and consumed with fear. Any comments are appreciated and thank you in advance.

Hi Brett,
Glad you are here, and you are planning on stopping. I know it can be difficult. Do you have a plan or supports in place to help you? I have been spending lots of time on here, and that has helped. Dee has a great link for plans, and I am sure he will post it soon!!
Spend some time reading around on here today.

Hi Brett
You've made the first step, you're here.
I have spent so much time 'rambling' on this site I should be stick thin but sadly cyber-rambling doesn't burn off calories (please don't think I'm belittling your post, humour (even if I'm the only one who finds it funny) is my way of getting through.
You will find ways to fill your time but you have to watch out for your AV telling you you don't have anything to do. It may take effort at times but there are things to do - even if you have to go out there and find it.
Good luck on your journey

Welcome back mbrett. How about hitting an AA meeting? Being around others who have the same goal as you and want to help can be very beneficial. I noticed you were going to some in the past.
You also mentioned you've had seizures in the past....if today is day one please be safe and seek medical help if things get too bad, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I plan to go to AA and am gonna be positive about it. And I'm taking vitamins and drinking lots of water so hopefully no seizures. Still scares me of the possibility but hopefully if I pray enough it won't happen
If you can please let someone know ( a family member, a neighbor, someone from the AA meeting, etc ) so they can check on you just in case. Or perhaps see a doctor/the ER if you have concerns. If you are just quitting cold turkey again after a 10 month binge and have had seizures related to drinking before you really should seek some medical assistance.

Hi mbrett, I think many of us have been in your shoes. The irrational fear is what drove me nearly crazy. I'm glad you are with people, that should help. I'm sure there will be periods of discomfort, but you can do it. I wish you the very best.
Hi all ... Day 4 ... Feel more calm and no seizures which is a huge bonus. I've been reading the big book and going to meetings. It has been scary but I've made it this far many times before and hope to stay positive and take it one day at a time. Thank you all kindly for this entire site. It is awesome.
Congrats on Day4, it's very good to hear that you aren't experiencing any of the severe symptoms you had in the past. Keep doing what you are doing...meetings, reading, coming here to SR - those are all part of a great plan.
Wow, so you've been a member since 2008. Has you gone to or considered in patient rehab? Im sure you have tried a lot of things in your 7 plus years of being a member here, what worked? What didnt work? What will you try new this time?
I sure hope you can finally put this to bed and roll with sobriety being a permanent part of your new life. Best of luck to you.
