I was reading a post earlier when I was on the train but had to put my phone away as it was my stop...I haven't been able to find the post or the reply someone gave but it referred to a Cherokee legend. Intrigued by the reference, when I got home I searched Google and found the story. No wonder this person referred to it as I think it is so apt when battling with alcohol. So for anyone who doesn't know the legend...here it is:

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.
“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Soberwolf posted a lovely version of this legend in graphic form. I don't know if he still has it handy...but I will never forget it.
