Itching and acne in early withdrawal

Hey folks,

I've relapsed quite a few times and every single time on the second day, the following happened. I would suddenly get itching all over my body and I would get some acne on my back.

It lasts less than 24 hours and then it goes away.

Since it's linked to quitting alcohol, it's either a huge coincidence or a cause and effect.

It seems totally harmless, but I'm curious about it. Is this common? Ha s anyone here had this?

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Acne is your body expelling the toxins. It's all good.

Common. I broke out in a rash all over my stomach and chest when I first quit. It went away after a week or so. Try to hydrate and eat healthy foods.

I didn't get the acne but I did get a rash and itching the first few days. It went away so it just takes time and the body riding itself of the toxins. Hang in there and way to go on getting back at it!

There are a lot of different symptoms people have during withdrawals. And many times people experience new ones that they've never experienced before on subsequent withdrawals.

Based on the binge you have just gone through i'd say that if some harmless acne is the only withdrawal symptom you experience count yourself a very lucky man. And please do be safe over the next few days, withdrawals symptoms can sometimes take a day or more to develop....remember it's only been about 12 hours since you actually quit drinking.

I look much younger - in that I have more acne on my face than I remember being the case anytime after hitting 30. Of course that could also be due to the surprise chocolate cravings.

Wouldn't this be an ongoing process?

That's what I wondered as well. I've relapsed quite a few times and it wasn't until I quit that I noticed toxins getting expelled. Sweating. Dark, weird smelling urine even after drinking a lot of water, the itching, etc.

And I thought, why is this happening now? Shouldn't this be, as you said, an ongoing process?

All I know is that it happens that way. I'm not a doctor, but I do have a theory.

I do think it is ongoing even while drinking, but in a limited way. It gets disrupted by the new toxins being poured into the body all the time. Once that stops, the body can use all its resources for detoxing.

I had the same thing happen when I quit smoking a long time ago. Before I even started drinking. At the time, I would swear a lot at night due to the severity of my anxiety problems. It was normal sweat though.

When I quit smoking, I had a couple of nights where the sweat smelled like substances from cigarettes. It was a very strong smell. It was clearly my body getting rid of the mess.

Why this started until after I quit? I only have the theory I mentioned. And the knowledge that for some reason, it happens that way.

My body was VERY itchy for a few months, especially my feet and hands. I knew it was my liver working quadruple time to get the toxins out.

Didn't have the acne problem, but did have a lot of other withdrawals.

I would get lots of rest and drink clean water with lemon juice,.

Take care,
