Time to try again
This is day 2... again. Day 1 is the easiest for me since that day I spend in bed with a hangover.
Today I don't feel too good either to be honest. But at this point I would have started drinking to drink away the not feeling good. And I have beer left over.
That is going in the trash. My brother is here to help me out. Calling him was the first thing I did this time. He wants to help and I need his help, so here we are. I realized I can't keep drinking and survive.
So, time to work on sobriety. Time to take a shower, shave and leave do something active.

Hi Mike,
Well done on day two, good work that man.
I think we're similar in so much as I always found day one a breeze, day two a little harder but not impossible. Day three would get me every time though.
What's your plan for later on today or day 3 when your cravings kick in?
If you'd take some advice from a relative newcomer to sobriety, I'd smash up or pour away that beer you've put in the trash. That would be way too close for me to resist.
What else can you do? Perhaps post in the 24 hour thread. Make a commitment to your friends here who care about you that you won't drink for the next 24 hours?
Perhaps have lots of water close Mike. I know I'd been drinking for so long by the time I eventually "got it" that my brain associated thirst with the need for booze. I definitely quelled some of the early cravings by just drinking water.
Maybe lastly, accept it's all your choice at the end of the day Mike. That's what helped me get sober too, I had to start taking responsibility for the choices I made. I used to blame my wife for my drinking but bizarrely I kept drinking long after she left me. Bloody strange that.
You can do this!
