Try sleeping elsewhere?

So I was able to get a little sleep the last two nights but both were interrupted, the second time with terrifying dreams that felt real like they were happening in my bedroom. Wondering if I should try the couch tonight?

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Sure, why not? I do sometimes when I'm feeling tense. I let myself drift off with the TV on. It takes the "must fall asleep" pressure off.

I used to watch old Star Trek tapes to fall asleep. Worked every time.

If you are in early sobriety, getting a good night's sleep can be tough. Do what ever it takes to get you a few hours. Eventually, your sleep patterns will return to normal.

Worth a shot...tho as I said yesterday those dreams are unfortunately very common for a little while. They will fade tho I promise

I agree with everyone else. Sleep is hard to come by early in sobriety. I recommend sleeping wherever you are comfortable and maybe some sleep music. I love Dr. Jeffery Thompson sleep music. Knocks me out. Good luck!

Those dreams will stop and greater and happier dreams await you. Let your mind heal, learn to sleep normally (not anesthetized) again!

Thanks everyone. Willing myself to sleep and not shift around and not let my mind whirl with repetitious anxious thoughts has been the worst part of day 2 and 3. Day 1 I didn't sleep at all. Tonight is the night at the end of day 4. I'm so tired I'm yawning at work but when I try it just turns into a war with my own mind to stop thinking.

I'm reading fascinating cooking techniques from a book I wanted so badly that my mom gave me for Christmas. Tonight is the first night I've cracked it. That makes me feel really sad about the last 30 days. But i am really enjoying it! Probably too stimulating for right before bed. Though I'd rather think about poaching eggs than all the instances of being drunk in front of people in the last year.

You giggle me! A cookbook is too stimulating before sleep? I could just hug you, you're so danged cute!!! But seriously, with your passion for cooking, I'll bet you're an awesome chef. And you'll have lots of opportunities to share that talent in sobriety.

One other bennie I get sometimes from sleeping with the TV on low is that is kind of shapes my dreams. I know it's not the best quality of sleep but at least it prevents totally insane technicolor dreams!

Have a good rest tonight!

Hi, Water-

I have downloaded an app of 'Relaxing Sounds', waterfall, rain storm, etc. There a bunch of them....I just plug in my headphones and the repetition really helps.

You are doing great! Sleep does get better.
