Day 10
Hello, I am new here and on day 10. I have been reading the forums and decided to join. I hate to admit it but I have tried many times in the past to stop drinking. Once I made it a year, another time 11 months. Over the summer, 3 months. My last try I made it 30 days. I have been reading about the AV and I certainly have it. Like many others, I reach a point where the AV says "go ahead, you can handle it" - which of course I can't. Once leads to weeks and disaster. I find myself lost and drinking alone. I am making a forever effort this time, and I am thankful for this forum and website. I have had a rough past few years, but I want to make a positive change this time. Thank you for any support you can provide me on my journey.
Welcome to the forum Jim. The people here are so supportive and full of good advice - and some much needed straight talking at times!
You've had some great achievements in the past and have recognised you have a nasty little AV sitting on your shoulder. Both of these will help you.

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Hi, Jim. Congrats on 10 days. It's a relief not to have a hangover, yes??
Sounds like you can rack up some serious sober time when you put your mind to it. And of course, ah yes, that little voice that says, "Hey, you've been sober long enough that you can enjoy a simple drink!" Well, at least you know it's a lie now.
Welcome to your happy, healthy, sober new life! :-)
