Recovery meeting

I planned to go to a recovery meeting tonight at 7. I tried my very best to find it with no luck! It was dark and some of the entrances to where the building was, were gated off because of broken up asphalt - it was apparent they are in the process of repaving. So after circling the building a couple times and going up and down the busy street at night and calling the number with no answer, I decided to just get something to eat and go home.

I figured I'd stop at Arby's (son and hubby are at scouts) and sit down to eat. I asked the cashier if i could get my preferred sandwich and fries for $5 even. That's all I had. He said it would 5.91. So I'm scanning over the menu and the manager walks over and tells cashier it's fine, just ring it up. I forgot to tell him it was "for here". So he bags it up and hands it to me and I thank him so very much. At this point, I don't know why I didn't just sit down to eat, like planned, and check into SR. But I felt like I should just go home. So here I am, finished eating, and blabbing on to you guys about my uneventful evening. But I'm sober. My plan might not have worked out like I wanted, but I didn't derail my sobriety because of it.

That's awesome! I ran off to Goodwill up the the road after work to walk around for an hour to clear my head. Usually if I go to Goodwill or Walmart, I stand a good chance that I will see more folks looking more dazed than I feel... lol.. Great Job...

Thanks!! You too! I love that new goodwill, they have nicer stuff, probably because of the well to do's around there; you know what I mean anyway. We were just there on Sunday and found some really great stuff. I can't stand Walmart though- too many peeps. I'm glad you are back and checking in Andrew! This is the only place I feel safe sometimes!

Maybe contact the local AA office to find out exactly where the meeting is Jillian - that way you won't miss it next time?

I am glad you didn't drink.

It's not a traditional AA meeting. It's through the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm emailing then tomorrow to get more details on location. It's once a week in my area.

I hope you get a response to your email.

But, in the meantime, keep checking in here and getting support.

So I made it to the recovery meeting tonight with my husband. It was very nice. There were only a handful of us there and it was very intimate. Looking forward to being a part of this group every week. They use the traditional twelve steps but since it's thru the church, it's spiritual based which is what my husband and I both need.

AA 12 steps are spiritually based.

Sounds like a Celebrate Recovery type meeting.

I don't know really how to explain it I guess. Maybe I should've said more like bible based? Anyway, it was good. 😊

What I mean is that the twelve steps have been adapted into a frame work of the doctrines, principles and beliefs of the church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. (Taken from their introduction)
