Was on day 3

Hi. Long time lurker/posted a couple times a long time ago. Even longer ago than that I had a different screen name and used to post lots. (Vanilla28) Anyways...

Tapered down Monday - wed. Did it rapidly. . Even tho I was tapering I still had withdrawal, which really I think was more my anxiety and panic attack about withdrawal symptoms. Seizures etc. anyways after those night of nonstop jolting awake, or constantly waking up, I ended up having Thursday and Friday night no drinking. Was feeling good. Waking up on a Saturday totally "normal". Was even out of the house early in the day!

For some stupid reason I decided to have some wine tonight, which resulted in me drinking the whole bottle. I'm pretty upset with myself thinking of how proud I probably would have felt if I went another night of not drinking. Nothing I can do about what is already done. I'll just kick myself for the rest of the night and start a new day tomorrow.

Just posting because I have no one else to voice my disappointment in myself to.

Thanks for listening. Sigh.

High Summerfall

I understand what you are going through and how you are feeling. Unfortunately what you describe as "some stupid reason" is the addiction to alcohol that we share on this forum.

For most of us the cravings are stronger in the evenings so it is a good idea to prepare fore this my having an activity to turn to (going for a walk until the cravings passed helped me)

If (and when) you do feel the need to drink try posting here before you pick up - you will get lots of support, advice and encouragement

Good luck

I have a living sober book, it says to eat sweet things when you get those feelings. Or have a soda. Youre less likely to use.

Welcome back
sounds like you need a plan

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ery-plans.html

just as an aside, it's entirely possible to have withdrawal when tapering - which is one of the reasons I direct folks to Drs and such.
